In 1997, God called her to start a non-profit ministry (Sisters In Touch, Inc.) along with 8 of her close friends. This ministry focused on improving the lives of single mothers with children. The programs were direct services to families in need. The non-profit received many honorariums including the 9 Who Care Award from JC Hayward and Channel 9 for its’ outstanding community service.
Cheryl has always had an interest in empowering women to move from one place in life to a higher level in God. It is this determination that prompted her to head the Women’s Ministry of the Master’s Child Church. Cheryl spearheads annual women’s retreats and women’s conferences each year. She recently implemented quarterly “Power Brunches” for the Women’s Ministry in an effort to empower women in every aspect of their lives. She also works very closely with the young girls (ages 10-17) of the church by mentoring and providing holiday boot-camps through a program called “Girl Power”. Cheryl has been very instrumental in starting many ministries within the church including a Spiritual Dance Ministry, A Step Team, and Children’s Church.
Along with her many roles, she holds the office of Executive Pastor. Her primary role is to ensure the business infrastructure of the ministry is in order and all legal and financial obligations are met. She works closely with the Board of Trustees and leads Board meetings quarterly. In 2007, Cheryl spearheaded the launch of a newly developed community service project called Project Independence under the auspices of LovingKindness Ministries, Inc. – the non-profit entity within the church. This project is designed to provide affordable senior housing for the senior citizen population of our community.
